Do you have Crohn’s disease?
Crohn’s disease is an inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). It causes inflammation of your digestive tract, which can lead to abdominal pain, severe diarrhea, fatigue, weight loss and malnutrition. Inflammation caused by Crohn’s disease can involve different areas of the digestive tract in different people.
The inflammation caused by Crohn’s disease often spreads deep into the layers of affected boweltissue. Crohn’s disease can be both painful and debilitating, and sometimes may lead to life-threatening complications.
While there’s no known cure for Crohn’s disease, therapies can greatly reduce its signs and symptoms and even bring about long-term remission. With treatment, many people with Crohn’s disease are able to function well.
I finally got my diagnosis September 11, 2019. I was misdiagnosed and undiagnosed for about 11 years. I was always told it was all in my head, nothing was wrong and I was a normal healthy young lady. I was also diagnosed with Irritable Bowel Disease (IBS) and endometriosis. I do have endometriosis, however it isn’t what was making me so sick and causing all of my pain. I finally found a great doctor and had a colonoscopy, endoscopy, and CT scan. This is how I got my Crohn’s diagnosis. And it has been LIFE CHANGING!
While there is no cure for Crohn’s disease, there are treatment options. However, there are not many options and many Crohnies have exhausted all treatment options. Our goal is to reach remission.
What is missing? Knowledge. Research. Funds.
More research is needed. There are about 3 million American’s who suffer from Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis.
Project Baseline’s Gut Research Project is trying to help! Their goal is to contribute to a better understanding of Crohn’s disease and Ulcerative Colitis. This is done by us sharing our health history! It’s pretty simple!
To participate in this study you must qualify. You must be diagnosed with Crohn’s or UC, be 18 or older, live in the United States, be able to read and speak English, and be willing to sign an informed consent.
